CLASSES

Classes are held in the meeting room of the African American Performing Arts Center Theater. Just enter the lobby, head past the exhibit hall entry on the right, and the meeting room is just after on the right hand side. The theater is located at 310 San Pedro Dr. NE, ABQ, NM.

Friday, March 29th:

12:00pm- Trixy Rene: Where'd my eyebrows go? Beginners class to dancing with fire.

Description: Trixy Rene is an Award-winning fire dancer who wants to make sure you set the night and not yourself on fire. In this class you will learn proper fire etiquette and how to safely have it on stage.  Depending on your comfort level you will learn how to touch and transfer the flame, and to those brave enough, breath fire.

Class Needs: If you have fire tools please bring them, if not, some will be provided.

2:00pm- Ophelia Flame: Shark Dancing and the Fine Art of Stillness

Description: They say sharks will die if they stop swimming. Like the shark, many performers seem terrified to stop moving (for fear of DEATH!). In this class we'll explore the power of stillness, learn how to captivate an audience, and discuss the pitfalls of being a shark dancer.

Saturday, March 30th:

12:00pm- Ophelia Flame: Strutting With Intention

Description: This class will deconstruct the the fine art of walking with purpose. Students will learn about balance, intention, tempo and other keys to a successful strut. Fun for all levels of experience. 

Class needs: Bring heels and prepare to move.

1:30pm- Trixy Rene: Impostination! The art of faking it at the last possible goddam second.

Description: Suffer from impostor syndrome? Me too. Feel lazy and can't seem to get stuff done. Me too. Do you feel so anxious and depressed to the point that you procrastinate everything to the very last moment? Omg, me too! 
Come to a chat with Trixy Rene about something so many of us suffer from but don't like to talk about. In this discussion we will explore the vast array of hurtles performers deal with and give tools and tips to help overcome them.
 Class Needs: Bring what you like to take notes.
